Why You Should Hire a Dietitian to Help You With Your Health Goals

A registered dietitian nutritionist is a nutrition professional who is licensed and credentialed to provide medical nutrition advice to the public.

Have you ever read two contradicting pieces of nutrition information on the internet?

Or, been confused by what your doctor meant by “just eat healthier”?

Nutrition can be overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be!

A registered dietitian is a nutrition expert that can help you stir clear from the nutrition myths and recommend an individualized nutrition plan that will help you meet your health goals.

Following a healthy nutrition plan doesn’t have to be a challenge when you are working with a registered dietitian. Keep reading to see why having a dietitian working with you on your health goals is so valuable!

Dietitians are the experts in the nutrition field

Pretty much anyone can call themselves a nutritionist, but “dietitian” is a protected title that can only be used after completing lots of education, testing, and training.

Most nutritionists will claim that they are nutrition experts; however, they are not. Dietitians are legally identified as nutrition experts.

Dietitians are governed by the Commission on Dietetic Registration. They also have to complete 75 hours of continuing education every 5 years to maintain their certification and license.

Dietitians work hard for their title so it is important to understand the difference between a dietitian and a nutritionist.

When you work with a dietitian on your health goals, you are working with a nutrition expert that knows nutrition is not a one-size-fits-all approach.

Dietitians focus on individualized plans that lead to long-term results

Most dietitians won’t promise their clients “quick results” because they know that habits that lead to “quick results” are not sustainable long term.

Many dietitians believe that all foods fit in a healthy lifestyle and fad trends like cutting out whole food groups or fasting for long periods of time are not going to improve your health.

We are trained to use our expertise to help you better understand nutrition labels, meal planning for your lifestyle, practice healthier cooking habits, and so much more!

We will listen to your specific needs and obstacles and help you come up with solutions that can help you reach your health goals.

Dietitians will keep you accountable to your health goals

Dietitians will collect data from you like past medical history, blood test results from doctor’s visits, dietary recall, and any other data they need from you to help you create individualized health goals. Dietitians are also trained to help you create goals that are SMART.

After you have created these SMART goals, they can help keep you accountable.

We are a resource that can answer any questions you have about nutrition all while teaching you strategies that will build your confidence to choose healthier nutrition habits.
